Next week, the 3rd major of the year will be played, Dreamhack Cluj-Napoca!
De groups are as follows:
My predictions:
Group 1 is pretty hard to predict, Fnatic will go through, but I'm not sure who will join them. Cloud9 seems to be on form, but choke regularly on the majors. I'm going with Luminosity, but I dont rule C9 or Vexed out.
Group 2 is quite similar to group 1. TSM will probably go to the quarters without much struggles, and then 3 teams remain for the last spot. Kinguin is favorite based on raw talent. On paper, Mouse should have a rough time here, but with bo1 games in the group (with bo3 for the deciders match), they might upset Kinguin and F3. Flipsid3 without Simpl3 is still a good team, but I rank Kinguin slightly higher.
Group 3 is the group of death IMO. VP, NiP and Titan are all top 8 teams, and Liquid is playing really strong in America lately. Unfortunately, I don't see Liquid advancing from this group. 2 weeks ago, I would've really doubted who would follow VP out this group (NiP or Titan), but Titan isn't playing amazing online, and NiP has beaten TSM 3 times in one week now, which has given them a confidence boost. Also, you can't rule out the Ninjas in a major, so I have faith they will survive this group, with VP.
Group 4 shouldn't bring any upsets. EnVyUs will outclass CLG and Dignitas by raw skill, and Na'Vi always steps their game up at Majors. Na'Vi doesn't seem to rely on Guardian alone to carry, which is a good sign. Dignitas lost Schneider yesterday, and he's replaced by Tenzki. This change comes really close to the major, so it will be hard for them to bond as a team.
Based on recent performances, I think TSM will be the favorite to take it all. Fnatic and EnVy also have a good shot at taking it. I have a feeling Na'Vi won't make it out of top 8, as they probably end up 2nd in their group and I dont see them beating TSM/Fnatic/NiP/VP.
It is still Counter-Strike, anything can happen. (Well, besides CLG winning the major
